i've been working at masjid an-nur for the past 4 days. well, i've taken a day off today as i've to take care of my baby bro. my mum's out with my sister as my sister has been bugging for a new handphone. under my mum's name. btw, rahman is sleeping now. ok, back to the mosque. nowadays, there seems to be lots of funds and charity events for either the building of new mosques or the upgrading of the current mosques. not only that, these are also significant for the full-time madrasah schools. upon observing my work place, i was just wondering where the money have been going to. i'm sorry if any of my comments might upset some people but i'm just giving my opinions. the mosque is not in a good condition. i really suggest that it must be upgraded. like majid en-naeem which is in my housing estate. i used not to like that mosque as it seemed to wear out. there're holes on the ceiling and rain water would seep through the holes into the mosque. the system was a bit corrupted and not efficent. the system referred to education wise. somehow, i didn't have that mood to go to my part-time madrasah there. however, after it has been upgraded, i just love the mosque. instead of brown, the mosque is in white. it looks pure and sacred. the school principal has changed. she used to be my arabic ustazah. frankly, the system has improved. most of the teachers are young on their 20s. in spite of the fact that my teachers are strict and firm, they're outgoing and fun depends on the situations. there seems to be several courses especially for teenagers and elderly people. the whole place begins to be alive. one thing that i am contented is that the money which the students have contributed are worth while. even though the mosque may not be as modern as masjid an-nadhah, it is a wholesome, sacred place. to be honest, i don't see the point of building such modern and costly mosques like masjid an-nadhah and this mosque at sembawang. lots of money are wasted. why don't we make a simple mosque yet it provides good education for both muslims and non-muslims who would like to learn about islam and a convenient, clean prayer place? these money that are spent on those modern, expensive mosques should be made into good use such as upgrading the old or wore-out mosques. i once went to masjid abdul razak where my dad is the imam. man, it is so small and the white paint has become into grey. for goodness' sake, it is situated in the middle of bungalows and terrace houses. it doesn't need to be so modern but at least some touch-up. i wish that the funds would go to such mosques which really need them. i don't mind if the mosques look like kampong houses such as masjid darul-aman. but it is clean and looks as if it has been touched up. btw, that mosque has been upgraded yet it maintains the malay culture look. actually, i am ok with the building of those modern mosques but we have to priotise the other mosques. anyway, those funds are our money. every muslim has to contribute a certain amount of money every month for the mosques. in singapore. i am also wondering for those low-income people. do we have to help those poor people or keep bulding costly and modern mosques? or maybe both. ain't we so rich.
